Hares, rabbits and rodents

The European brown hare is found in the southern and central parts of Sweden, while the mountain hare is found mainly in the northern and central parts of the country. Outbreaks of diseases affect hares in certain years, where SVA follows outbreaks of, among other things, tularemia and EBHS (European Brown Hare Syndrome). The Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHD) causes high mortalities in wildlife and domestic rabbits.
