Research area :Porcine Respiratory Disease Complex – what is missing for effective control?

Porcine Respiratory Disease Complex (PRDC) is a disease involving multiple bacterial and viral species. In my PhD project, the overall aim is to increase the understanding of the complexity of respiratory infections in pigs, in order to improve the management of such infections in the field, both with preventive measures and in the case of clinical disease through targeted treatments of the underlying causes. Thus, animal welfare can be improved while minimizing the risk of developing antimicrobial resistance.
